George T. Morgan created the design for the Morgan silver dollar, during his time as assistant engraver for the US Mint. George started his career in England but soon moved and worked at the US Mint for 40 years before being donned Chief Engraver for the Mint. He designed other coins too, though the Morgan was after his namesake and what he is famous for. Your 1897-S Morgan is a raw coin in brilliant uncirculated condition so what you can expect is a coin with a luster that can be seen across Lady Liberty's face and her cheeks should have little to no wear on them. Lady Liberty is always included on American silver dollars but usually with her whole body in the frame. George designed Liberty with an up close view of her side profile. Each Morgan contains 90% silver and 10% copper, making them an investment along with their collectibility.
