Your 1898 Morgan silver dollar was minted at the Philadelphia mint and thus, does not carry a mint mark. It contains approximately 90% silver, 10% copper, and has a diameter of 38.1 millimeters. It is does not weigh one ounce but rather 26.73 grams (there are 31.10 grams in an ounce). Morgans that are part of a larger mintage don't have a high premium, thus giving collectors the chance to own a beautiful coin at a low price. Many collectors flock to this pricing for an older brilliant uncirculated coin, instead of its special varieties counterparts, to save money for their collection. The design on the Morgans reveal Lady Liberty on the obverse, with a side portrait highlighting her youthful features. "E Pluribus Unum," is a phrase that has been on US currency for over one hundred years and is encompassing the Liberty's head on the Morgan.
