  • Description:

While the production of the Morgan silver dollar was a historical event in itself, there were other historical events taking place as well. In 1892, Ellis Island began the process of accommodating immigrants to the US. William Heffelfinger was paid $525 to be the first professional American football player. Abraham Lincoln's birthday became a national holiday and Thomas Edison received permission, by a patent, to create the two-way telegraph. Your 1892 Morgan was minted in Philadelphia, one of the only original mints to still be in production today, and the coin carries no mint-mark. The Philadelphia Mint was the first mint to be established in the US and is still minting today. Your coin is considered to be fine condition, with heavy amounts of wear on the Lady Liberty's portrait and the eagle's feathers. Since the wear is noticeable, the image details have lost their sharpness.
