Just 2% of the Morgan production actually took place at the Carson City Mint. The petite production size was due to the actual size of the Carson City Mint. This Nevada-based mint was considered the smallest of the four mints producing Morgans. Morgan collectors hold any Morgan that carries the "CC" mint-mark to very high esteem since these Morgans naturally have a lower mintage than the other Morgans. Due to the over production of Morgans, there was a total 307 million Morgans just sitting in the Treasury, the banks, and reserves. An act was passed to prohibit the purchasing of new silver to make the Morgans. Only 677,000 Morgans were minted at the Carson City mint in 1893, to spare the country some money. Your 1893-CC Morgan is in fine condition, exhibiting wear on the total surface of the coin and dulling the image's detail.
