Being named after the English engraver who designed the Morgan dollar, George T. Morgan, the Morgan was the first standard silver dollar since production ceased of the Seated Liberty dollar. In 1878, there were a few mistakes with the die of the Morgan design, creating different varieties that are now considered collectible. Your 1878 7tf rev 78 contains 90% silver, 10% copper, and weighs approximately 26.73 grams. It also contains the reverse design of the 1878 eagle. The eagle depicted on the Morgan silver dollar, in 1878, contains a nonrealistic portrayal of an eagle's breast. Instead of a full, convex breast, that is well known for an eagle to have, a flattened breast is what is actually pictured. This coin carries an almost uncirculated finish that contains little wear on Lady Liberty. Morgans were in circulation from 1878 to 1904, then made another appearance in 1921.
