  • Description:

Due to some serious cutbacks, the US Mint had to be extremely careful when it came to the amount of silver used for its coins. Unless otherwise stated, the Eisenhower dollar was minted out of a copper-nickel alloy, containing no silver whatsoever. In 1976, there was a mass production of the famous dollars, in honor of the bicentennial. Although the US Mint thought the Eisenhower dollar's popularity would be blown out of the water, only the west coast used the new dollar for currency. Since the Eisenhower dollar's mintage was so great, millions are available in pristine brilliant uncirculated or proof condition. The success of the Eisenhower dollar still remains at large and is predicted to increase in popularity over time, similar to the Morgan silver dollar. The 1976-S BU Eisenhower Dollar Roll contains 20 coins, in brilliant uncirculated condition, all of which are made out of 40% silver.
