The 1987 Proof American Silver Eagle is the first to have a mintage fall under 1,000,000. In 1987, only 904,732 proof silver eagles were minted, causing this year to be a highly sought after year for collectability. The Proof Silver Eagle is different to the Uncirculated Silver Eagle simply because of the finish of the coin. Brilliant uncirculated coins exhibit a bright, matte finish, wherein the proof finish displays a "mirrored" or shiny finish. Proof silver eagles come at a higher premium because they cost more to mint, there are less of them made than the brilliant uncirculated coins, and they are packaged in original mint packaging.
Your 1987 Proof American Silver Eagle is guaranteed to weigh one ounce of .999 silver and is contained in original mint packaging, including the COA. Your silver eagle shimmers with the crisp sheen of a perfectly struck proof coin that is protected by an airtight capsule. The 1987 Proof Silver Eagle also bears the "S" mintmark, indicating it was minted at the San Francisco Mint. Whether you are looking to collect these precious coins for yourself or to give as a gift, the Proof American Silver Eagles are the cream of the coin crop.

-Obverse: Walking Liberty is featured on the obverse of the coin, resembling a Grecian goddess wearing a delicately flowing toga that falls loosely on her tall and slender frame. The Lady has two arms in action: the right is extended out and the left is carrying a bundle of branches. "Liberty," is written in a large font above her head and the infamous saying, "In God We Trust," is etched next to her. The coin's date of mintage is included underneath the Lady's sandaled feet.
-Reverse: The US Coat of Arms is illustrated on the back of the coin, revealing a large eagle with outstretched wings. Each talon is clenching something symbolic, while the eagle's body is protected behind a shield.
