The official last year of the Eisenhower Dollar, the Denver Mint helped finish the short and sweet series. Beginning its journey as a mint, in 1906, the Denver Mint mainly acted as a "back-up" mint to the other US Mint branches. Over the years, the Denver Mint has gained momentum with its collectors, by producing the US proof and uncirculated mint sets. Although collectors recognize the "D" mintmark on many coins and commemorative sets, the Denver Mint is the least well-know mint in the US. But popularity hasn't stopped this mint's success; the Denver Mint stands today as the lead coin producer in the world! The 1978-D Eisenhower Dollar Roll consists of 20 coins, in perfect brilliant uncirculated condition, comprised of a copper-nickel alloy.
