The Philadelphia Mint was the first mint facility to be minted in the US. The Philadelphia Mint was established in 1792, as a result of the Founding Fathers desiring to become a blip on the international commerce map. In order to trade overseas, the US needed a form of currency and the Coinage Act of 1792 was the beginning of a long continuing history. Philadelphia was the country's capital at the time so naturally the first mint was placed there. Your 1924 Peace Silver dollar was minted at the Philadelphia Mint and since it was the first mint, the Philadelphia coins do not contain mint-marks. Your coin is also considered to be in very fine condition, with a very worn surface to be expected. All Peace silver dollars contain 90% silver, allowing investors the opportunity to also appreciate this numismatic investment.
