A Morgan silver dollar collection isn't complete without the coins that contain the errors by the US Mint. There are very few times in history where mistakes are praised or even worth something. Fortunately, for the US Mint, all of the minting mistakes that happened to the Morgan Silver dollars, made those coins especially valuable to the avid collector. One of these mistakes is the "O over S", wherein the coin originally had a "S" mint-mark but was stamped over with an "O" mint-mark. Similar to the 1878 variations, these mistakes are not looked at as mistakes but rather as unique qualities of the Morgan. Your 1882-O over S Morgan was originally minted in New Orleans and contains the famous mint-mark that is similar to a figure eight. This abnormal mint-mark can be found on the reverse of the coin, underneath the eagle's talons. The mint-mark should resemble an "O" with a line going through it horizontally.
