The Morgan silver dollar began its journey has a dollar in 1878 but due to a lot of government issues, its production ceased in 1904. Thanks to the Pittman Act in 1918, the reauthorization of silver dollars passed and Morgans had their final year of mintage in 1921. Also minted that year was the Peace dollar, which would surpass the Morgan as the new silver dollar. Your 1881-O Morgan was minted in New Orleans and isn't exactly considered a rare coin. Its condition is considered to be a MS63 brilliant uncirculated, although the coin itself is raw. Many collectors enjoy the higher mintage Morgans because it makes their personal collections fill up fast, instead of having to wait and save for the expensive ones. Collectors enjoy storing their collection of Morgans in specially made folders, similar to the Dansco folder we sell in the Coin Supplies department.
