Since 1904 was the last year of production for the Morgan, the New Orleans Mint released most of their known stash to the public. The 1904-O Morgan was viewed as a rare coin until the 1960's, when bags of 1904-O Mint State Morgans were sent to the Philadelphia Mint. Finding the 1904-O in a grade that is lesser than the Mint State Morgans has deemed quite a challenge to collectors. It is a rare moment when a circulated Morgan has higher value than a Mint State Morgan. The New Orleans Mint greatly depended on the success of the Morgan and was able to finish the silver dollar series in 1904. The Old Mint closed its doors, as an official mint, soon after the Morgan's production ceased. It was able to reopen its doors later on as an assay office, storage facility, and a fallout shelter. Your 1904-O Morgan is in good-very good condition, with large amounts of wear on the coin's surface but the date is still coherent.
