Owning any Morgan silver dollar minted in Carson City is a top priority for any coin collector. There are a few reasons behind this phenomenon. The Carson City Mint was the smallest mint producing Morgans and it was only in production for a short 19 years. This led to every Morgan that carries a "CC" mint-mark, also carries a lower mintage. It has been documented that only 2% of the Morgans production actually came from the Nevada based mint. The Carson City Mint was decommissioned in 1893, not being able to complete the Morgan silver dollar series. Your 1881-CC Morgan proudly bears the "CC" mint-mark, on its reverse. It is also considered to be good-very good condition, with heavy wear but the date is still readable. Only 296,000 Carson City Morgans were minted in 1881, thus proving the point of how valuable these low mintage gems really are.
