Morgan silver dollars were used as currency during the famous gold rush expeditions in California and Alaska. A part of the precious metals' history that seems to get lost, as time goes on, is the miners who started it all. These miners sacrificed comfort, their families, and even their safety and health, for the dream of making it big. These expeditions were dangerous, tiresome, and sometimes not always worth it. It was estimated that only one out of one hundred miners would even find enough gold to make the trek worthwhile. But mining gold wasn't the only precious metal that was being mined in those days. Silver was being turned into silver dollars faster than anything else but this only added to bulk of Morgans that weren't even in circulation, since there was too many of them. Your 1898-O Morgan is in fine condition, with a heavy amount of wear on the surface.
