Most Morgan silver dollars, in 1902, were either giving into circulation or stored away in the Treasury for years to come. Due to these two simple facts, it is difficult to find a grade higher than a MS65 for the Morgan. Many collectors lean towards the MS64 Morgan, since its grade is ideal for the coin. When the New Orleans Mint closed in 1909, bags of 1902-O Morgans were sent to the main mint in Philadelphia and placed in a vault. It wasn't until the 1960's that the vault was opened and the bags were put on the market; not as currency but as collectibles. Since there are so many available to avid collectors, their price stay moderately low. The New Orleans Mint had a short life, being decommissioned soon after the ceased production of the Morgan silver dollar. Your 1902-O proudly wears the "O" mint-mark and has earned the ideal grade of MS64, by NGC.
