The Coinage Act of 1792 announced the creation of the Philadelphia Mint, due to the Founding Father's desire to establish a means of international commerce. Philadelphia housed the first US Mint in history, since it was the nation's capital at the time. The Mint Act was passed shortly after, giving guidelines to the currency about to be produced. The Mint Act instituted a decimal system based on a dollar unit, the coins had to specify its metallic composition and fineness. It was also required that each US currency coin should present "an impression emblematic of liberty." Your 1889 Morgan was minted in Philadelphia, one of two mints left that originally minted the Morgans, and is in brilliant uncirculated condition. NGC issued your coin as a MS63 grade, which is conveniently labeled on the official certified holder.
