A government hoard took place, in the mid 1960's, that ended the exchange of silver certificates for silver dollars. The act is called "the hoard" because the government had over 3 million Morgans, stored in sealed bags. They opened the bags to find almost all were minted with the "CC" mint-mark and only 125,000 were from the other mints. All of the uncirculated Morgans were placed into official GSA holders, to be preserved for future collectors. Unfortunately, most GSA Morgans have been removed from their original GSA holders to be sold separately. Your 1883-CC Morgan is in its original GSA packaging and has earned the grade of MS65 by NGC. Due to most of the 1883-CC Morgans being kept in bags for so long, it is prime real estate when you come across one that has earned the grade MS65 or higher. Its high grade is also labeled on the holder.
