Even though it was minted in 2011, the Cougar was the first coin, from the Wildlife series, to be released for the year: 2012. In true Royal Canadian Mint fashion, the Cougar was one of only 1,000,000 coins minted for that design. Sending both collectors and investors into a coin-crazed frenzy, the RCM liked the idea of having a coin series only last a few years then disappear. This thought is the exact opposite behind the Silver Maple Leaf, which has been minted every year, with the same design, for over 20 years. The RCM is always taking coin minting and production to the next level. They aspire to make coins that cannot be counterfeited, they challenge the idea of coin series that last for decades, and they are always improving on their quality of products. It is no wonder this mint holds a strong reputation all over the world!
Your 2012 Cougar silver coin weighs approximately one ounce of .9999 pure silver and is in striking brilliant uncirculated condition. The design on this coin definitely calls for attention. The cougar is balancing on a fallen tree branch, with its mouth ferociously revealing its sharp teeth. It is almost as if the design catches the Cougar right before it attacks its unsuspecting prey. The Wildlife series is available in tubes of 25 or individuals. Individual coins will be packaged in a coin flip, to ensure proper safety while in transit. Between the design and low mintage, this coin must be added to your Canadian silver bullion collection!
