Low mintages generally equate to increased numismatic value among bullion coins. The Silver Kookaburra coin series began in 1990, by the Perth Mint, and has competed with other bullion collections with their impressive lower mintages. In fact, only 300,000 coins were produced in 1999, causing an increased popularity with avid coin collectors. The Silver Kookaburras also change their reverse designs annually, thus resulting in a naturally diverse collection. Each design depicts the Australian bird in its natural habitat but the bird is never in the same place, doing the same thing. The remarkable play with matte and proof-like finishes also brings this collection some attention. This unique brilliant uncirculated finish gives the coin dimension and character; something that can be lacking in bullion coins.
Your 1999 Silver Kookaburra is one troy ounce of .999 pure silver and reveals an impeccable brilliant uncirculated finish. Its excellent packaging includes a mint-sealed capsule to protect the coin in shipment but it also can be used as a long-term protection when storing the coin. The Silver Kookaburra series is the ideal gift to mark a special occasion or to treasure for your own collection.

-Obverse: A famous sculptor is chosen every so often to create a unique masterpiece of Queen Elizabeth II. Ian Rank-Broadley was chosen in 1997 and revealed an aspect about the Queen other artists were hesitant to do. Instead of portraying a young Queen, Broadley chose to honor the Queen's maturity by depicting her as she realistically is. He encourages that this is not something to hide but to celebrate since the Queen has accomplished so much in her life.
-Reverse: Two kookaburras are delicately balanced on a thin branch of the eucalyptus tree. Kookaburras mate for life and both adult birds help raise their young. The coin series' name, "Australian Kookaburra," is stamped onto the reverse, followed by the coin's weight, purity, and date of mintage.
