The rabbit is the fourth animal of the Chinese zodiac and is represented in its year of 2011. This silver rabbit coin was minted at the Perth Mint to continue the Australian Lunar Series II. Each year, a new coin with a new animal design is produced to honor the Chinese zodiac calendar. Each coin is 1 ounce of pure silver and is presented in brilliant uncirculated condition. Each coin is encapsulated perfectly to protect the coin in transit. The Perth Mint only produces a certain amount of the coins every year, making the Series II appealing to coin collectors who enjoy a challenge and wish to diversify their collection.
According to legend, the animals of the Chinese zodiac were chosen and assigned to a year. Everyone born under those years would adapt the qualities of the animal that was assigned to their year. Since the rabbit is delicate, sweet, and kind so are those born under the year of the rabbit. They are also known to keep a tidy house, calm in time of a storm, and are extremely empathetic when it comes to other's problems.
The reverse of this fine silver coin displays a striking baby bunny with its mother. The two are nibbling as they are nestled into a resting place. All of the Australian Lunar Series II coins' animal designs are proof-like while the rest of the coin has a brilliant uncirculated matte finish. Under the sweet bunnies are the words, "Year of the Rabbit". The Perth Mint's mint-mark, "P", is also on the reverse, along with the Chinese symbol for "rabbit." The obverse of the coin is of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, along with the coin's denomination, the year 2011, 1 oz .999 silver, and the word "Australia". Since ancient times, rabbits are the symbol of peace and success so wish someone a peaceful and successful year by giving them this incredible coin!
