  • Description:

Beginning its venture as a branch of the US Mint, the Denver Mint opened in 1906. Mainly catching the coattails of other successful coin series, the Denver Mint was able to fully participate in the Walking Liberty Half Dollar collection from start to finish. Marking all of their coins with the "D" mint-mark, the Denver Mint stands today as the leading coin producer in the world. The 1936-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar is part of a hefty mintage and is in brilliant uncirculated condition. Collectors enjoy the BU half dollars since the brilliant shine exhibits all of the lovely details of the Walking Liberty. BU coins' details are fully intact with no signs of wear on either side of the coins. Lady Liberty is beautifully dressed in a Grecian robe, holding her hand out while the other is holding olive branches and underneath her sandaled feet is the date of mintage. The reverse features a prideful eagle, confidently perched on a branch with its wings outstretched. The 1936-D Walking Liberty will be packaged in an appropriate coin flip to protect its perfect sheen.

After the Barber design was on all three coin denominations for 25 years, the Mint Director at the time decided to change the design. The Walking Liberty Half Dollar was produced from 1916-1947 and is still known to be one of the most stunning pieces every created by the US Mint. Even though it was minted for over 30 years, it gave the mint great trouble where the die was concerned. A less detailed and easier to strike Benjamin Franklin Half Dollar replaced the Walking Liberty. The modern American Silver Eagle bullion coin was inspired by the Walking Liberty and is admired by collectors and investors universally.
