The Philadelphia Mint was the first official mint facility in the US, established in the nation's capital at the time. The Founding Fathers desperately needed the US to establish an identity and a means of international commerce and a mint would be the ticket. Also happening in 1886, the Statue of Liberty was dedicated by president Grover Cleveland and Cocoa-Cola was invented by a pharmacist. Using the transcontinental railroad, the first batch of oranges left California to be distributed throughout the country. Your 1886 roll of Morgan silver dollars was minted in Philadelphia and do not contain mint-marks since Philly was the first official mint. Your Morgans are considered to be in brilliant uncirculated condition, with little to none bag marks. Most BU Morgans were stored, at the Treasury, for over 50 years so it can become tricky to find BU Morgans lacking bag marks entirely. Rolls of Morgans consist of 20 coins and should be stored in an airtight container for long-term preservation.
