Being the first woman featured on the US Dollar, Susan B. Anthony's history is worth knowing. Starting a career in social activism at the young age of 17, Susan B. Anthony was raised in a Quaker household, who believed in social equality. Throughout her life, Anthony served her time as a activist, supporting the antislavery and women's suffrage movements. The one event, that put her in the history books, was when she illegally voted in her city. To make her point, she didn't pay the fine, taking her misconduct all the way to trial. Since she was representing unwanted propaganda, it became a mistrial under her name. When the US Mint wanted to make a new dollar in 1979, they originally wanted Lady Liberty on the obverse. After much deliberation, Susan B. Anthony's portrait was chosen. The 1980 Susan B. Anthony Dollar Roll contains 20 coins, all in brilliant uncirculated condition.
