As with the times in the United States, 1875 was another year for innovation. Alexander Graham Bell conducted different experiments that would soon lead to the creation of the telephone. Graft also continued to be a problem during America’s Gilded Age. The New York City Court House was completed at a total cost of $13 million. This however, caused silver prices to drop, causing many problems in Western towns.
1875 began yet another variety change for the Seated Liberty half dollar. Now the arrowheads once on each side of the date would be removed. However, the weight change to 12.5 grams would remain.
