Elected as the 28th president of the United States, Woodrow Wilson became the first Democratic president to serve consecutive terms since Andrew Jackson. Wilson was born in Virginia but spent his childhood in Georgia and South Carolina. Known for his academic expertise, Wilson was a scholar and a professor before earning the title of President of Princeton University. Wilson's first political career move was when we ran for Governor of New Jersey and won. Serving as governor, Wilson gained enough confidence to run the ultimate race and run for president. Woodrow Wilson hit the sweet spot, when he became president, since the Democratic Party ruled in Congress and the White House. Wilson was a leader in the Progressive Movement and passing progressive legislative policies. In his second term, Wilson had to deal with conflict concerning World War I and avoided a major railway strike by limiting daily work hours to only 8 per day. Being the third sitting president to win a Nobel Peace Prize, Wilson is ranked high among the presidencies.
Wilson finished his years in the White House, where him and his wife would retire in Washington DC. At the young age of 67, Wilson died of a stroke, which completely debilitated him and kept him in his house until he passed. Woodrow Wilson's portrait is depicted on the obverse of the 2011-S Presidential Dollar, as well as his single term in office. The reverse design is an honorary representation of the Statue of Liberty, which stands proudly in New York City's harbor. The coin's date and place of mintage are inscribed on the rim of the coin. The San Francisco Mint produces the Proof Presidential Dollars, each displaying a perfectly glossy mirrored finish.
