Elected as the 29th president of the United States, Warren G. Harding was one of the most popular presidents to serve, until his death. Harding was born and raised in Ohio, where he would start a newspaper business that began his political career. After the establishment of his newspaper, Harding was elected into the Senate and then lieutenant governor after. Harding's administration was mainly known for the powerful people who he appointed as president. He was a very beloved president until he died, then some of his darkest secrets were released. Harding had numerous extramarital affairs, that lasted over 15 years. He also signed off on the Teapot Dome, which secretly transferred an oil reserve for the Navy to an unknown source.
First minted in 2007, the Presidential Dollar series honors all of the past US presidents and features four presidents a year. Going in chronological order, the first president featured in 2007 was George Washington. In 2014, Warren G. Harding shares the date of mintage with Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, and Franklin D. Roosevelt. Harding's portrait is on the obverse of the 2014-S Presidential Dollar, as well as his term in office. The reverse features the Statue of Liberty, which stands proudly in New York's harbor. What catches observers' eyes, with the Presidential Dollars, is the unique metal composition, resulting in its beautiful golden color. Instead of the nickel/copper alloy, that saved the government thousands of dollars in the 1960's, the Presidential Dollars are made from a copper/brass alloy, that give the dollars that lustrous golden hue. The Presidential Dollars are perfect for album collections or tooth fairy gifts. Giving a child a golden dollar is a special way to celebrate an occasion or holiday.
