Millard Fillmore was the 13th president of the United States of America and handled that presidency at the beat of his own drum. Fillmore was the last president to be a part of the Whig party and the last president not to be affiliated with either the Democrat or Republican parties. The only Whig president not to die in office, Fillmore was also the only Whig representative to be appointed Supreme Court Justice. After president Zachary Taylor's untimely and sudden death, Fillmore sworn in as president at the height of the Crisis of 1850. Fillmore disappointed both parties of the Crisis, pro-slavery and abolitionist, by supporting the Compromise of 1850. Since neither parties got what they wanted, Fillmore is ranked in the bottom 10 of presidents. Fillmore finished a full term in the oval office then went on to establish the University of Buffalo and became the university's first chancellor.
The Presidential Dollars began in 2007 and have produced 8 coins a year, featuring four presidents at a time. The Philadelphia and Denver Mints both have their own interesting historical backgrounds and each produce 4 Presidential Dollars a year. The dollar's metallic composition consists of a copper core and a manganese brass finish, alluding to the unique golden color. Since it cannot be guaranteed that our Presidential Dollars are packaged in original government paper, please give us a call so we can check our ever-growing inventory. Millard Fillmore's flattering portrait is displayed on the obverse of the 2010-D, as well as his solo term. The reverse honors the Statue of Liberty, who stands in Manhattan's harbor, representing how far we have come as an independent country. The coin's legal tender value is also inscribed on the reverse side.
