Harry Truman became the 33rd president of the United States, after the impending death of beloved Franklin Roosevelt. After serving one year as president, Truman was elected in his own right. Harry Truman was raised on a farm in in Missouri and served as an officer in France during World War I. Truman's political portfolio only grew, where he served as a State Official then a Senator in the US Senate. Swearing in as president at the end of World War II, Truman's main problem was Japan, which was a constant threat on the US. Truman finally made the controversial call to use an atomic bomb on Japan and forcing Japan's surrender. Foreign policy was a main focus during Harry Truman's presidency.
The Presidential Dollar series is a favorite among collectors, due to its honorable history and stunning golden hue. Comprised of a copper and manganese brass alloy, the Presidential Dollar series follows the footsteps of the Sacagawea Dollar with its unique golden color. Don Everhart, an engraver for the mint, designed Harry Truman's portrait for the obverse of this dollar. Harry Truman's years in office are also included on the obverse of the 2015-S dollar. The reverse features the Statue of Liberty, as well as the coin's legal tender value of $1. The San Francisco Mint delicately places its "S" mint-mark on the rim of the dollar, along with the coin's date of mintage.
