The Peace silver dollar was the first US coin to memorialize peace as a nation. It was minted from 1921-1928, then again from 1934-1935. As this coin was being produced, by the first US mint in history, there were other events taking place that share the important date of 1927. In 1927, the first transatlantic call was made from New York to London via the radio. Teddy Wakelam also performed the first sports commentary for the BBC radio and the first British troops land in Shanghai. Carrying as much history as numismatic value on its shoulders, your 1927 Peace silver dollar is in very fine condition. Collectors expect very fine dollars to contain very worn details, creating a smooth surface, especially around Lady Liberty's hairline and the eagle's feather details. The Peace silver dollar was the last silver dollar to ever be minted for circulation in the US.
