As the US Mint slowly crept up to its deadline in 1928, the Peace dollar's mintages also slowly decreased. As the 1925 Peace silver dollar was being produced by the first mint facility in the US, other events occurring in the world only added to the coin's historical appeal. In 1925, two women became the first female governors in Wyoming and Texas, the first cover date of The New Yorker published, and the classic novel, The Great Gatsby was also published by author F. Scott Fitzgerald. Your 1925 Peace silver dollar contains a strong strike, as did many produced at the Philadelphia Mint and is in fine condition. Some characteristics of fine condition is an extremely worn surface, front and back, causing the coin's details to be less sharp. Since the 1925 Peace dollar was heavily circulated, it no longer exhibits its original mint luster.
