There were only three mints that participated in the minting of the Peace silver dollar. The Denver Mint was new when it first participated in the minting of the Peace silver dollar. It was first established in 1908 and mainly minted speciality coins, such as commemoratives but would be called upon if the other mint branches needed production help. The Denver Mint did not produce a Peace dollar every year but only minted the dollar 5 times in its 7 years of production. Since Peace dollars carrying the "D" mint-mark are scarcer, it is harder to find them in higher conditions. Your 1923-D Peace dollar contains 90% silver, allowing investors to also enjoy collecting the numismatic dollars, and is in fine condition. For fine dollars, a solid amount of wear on the coin as a whole is to be expected. Due to being heavily circulated, the Peace dollars in fine condition do not contain the original mint luster.
