Being the second to last Peace dollar minted at the Denver Mint, the 1927-D dollar is in high demand in most conditions. The Denver Mint was established in 1908 and immediately dove into the minting of many historical precious metals coins. Since then, it has acquired a reputation for minting mainly commemoratives and mint sets. Nowadays, the Denver Mint is acclaimed as the lead producer of coins in the world, which is a far cry from where it came from one hundred years ago. Your 1927-D Peace silver dollar contains 90% silver and is in extra fine condition. Extra fine condition is the preferred condition among novice collectors, due to the last bit of original mint luster that is still visible. Dollars in extra fine are also pretty worn, especially on Liberty's tiara and hairline.
