Before 1962, the 1903-O was deemed one of the rarest Morgans ever minted. Then, bags of 1903-O Morgans in Mint State condition flooded into the Philadelphia mint raising the mintage of the Morgans. It became easier for the collector to find a 1903-O Morgan in a Mint State condition than a low grade. This is one of few times that a lower grade Morgan is of higher value than its Mint State counterparts. The New Orleans Mint produced the Morgan silver dollar until its production ceased in 1904. Since the Old Mint depended heavily on the production of the Morgan silver dollar, it was decommissioned shortly after. After closing its doors as a mint, the New Orleans Mint became a National Historic Landmark, an assay office, fallout shelter, and a storage facility for the US Coast Guard. Your 1903-O Morgan is in that higher value condition, very fine, with expected wear on the total surface of the coin.
