Lady Liberty has always been a big part of US coins and currency. She is usually displayed as a tall, thin, lady who is wearing a light-weight dress that easily flows around her. George T. Morgan was the person who designed the Morgan silver dollar and depicted Lady Liberty in an unpopular way. As beautiful as her face is, it is just her face present on the obverse of every Morgan silver dollar. Liberty's profile is accentuated, as it is facing the side and her body is totally absent. Since this design was very different than what was expected, the silver dollar was named after Morgan. Morgan also began the facial portraits on currency, instead of an entire body having to be drawn. Your 1887-S Morgan is BU and and is close to the MS61 grade. Morgan collectors enjoy using Dansco albums, that are featured in our Coin Supplies section, to store and organize their precious collection.
