It is nearly impossible to find the 1898-S Morgan silver dollar in a condition that's better than Good-Very Good, since almost all of them were placed into circulation at the time of the famous gold rushes. The most famous gold rush city on the west coast, San Francisco, was incredibly busy during this time, minting the silver and gold that was being mined. In the San Francisco Mint's first year, it minted over $4 million of gold into coins. It grew so fast, it had to upgrade to a newer and larger building shortly after its opening. This building has gone down in history as the Granite Lady, since it withstood the deadly earthquake of 1906. Your 1898-S is in good-very good condition, which is the easiest condition to achieve in this date. Good-very good condition consists of a very worn and smooth surface but the date is still readable.
