An act was passed to prohibit the purchasing of new silver to make the Morgans. The Carson City Mint was the smallest of the four mints producing Morgans, which led to the lower mintages of coins minted there. Morgan collectors hold any Morgan that carries the "CC" mint-mark to very high esteem since these Morgans naturally have a lower mintage than the other Morgans. The Carson City Mint was also shut down eleven years before the Morgan's production ceased, adding to the legend of the Carson City Morgan.
