Many, who are novices at collecting the Morgan silver dollar, are surprised to see a mint-mark different from the others in the past. The only Morgan the Denver Mint produced was in 1921; before that, this mid-west mint was just beginning its minting process. The Denver Mint was established in 1906, missing the Morgan production craze but able to participate in its final year. The Denver Mint holds the leading spot for being the single largest producer of coins in the world. Due to the Pittman Act in 1917, the reauthorization of Morgans was passed by Congress but a different coin had to replace it after 1921. 1921 isn't just the Morgans last year of production but it was the Peace dollar's first year of being released. Your 1921-D Morgan carries the "D" mint-mark and is in fine condition.
