1895 was the end of the low mintage crisis among the production of the Morgan silver dollars. Although Morgans minted at the San Francisco Mint are excellently made, none were saved when being put into circulation. Even the nicer conditions are expected to come with the unfortunate bag marks. In 1893, a silver purchasing clause was repealed, forcing the US Mint to only use what silver was left to make the Morgans; buying new silver was out of the question. All Morgans minted from 1893-1895 contain incredibly low mintages, when compared to the other years, because of this repeal. At the time, not many 1896-S Morgans were saved in bags to be kept as mint state condition. Only a few collectors saved some from the damages of being in circulation. Your 1896-S Morgan is in almost uncirculated condition, with minimal wear on the coin's surface and its details are almost fully intact. Being minted at one of the most successful branches of the US Mint, your coin also sports the proud "S" mint mark.
