Morgan Silver Dollar Almost Uncirculated 1885

George T. Morgan was the English engraver, who designed the famous Morgan design. Lady Liberty has always graced the obverse of every silver dollar and continued to do so on the Morgans, with her lovely side profile highlighted. This depiction of Lady Liberty was not only new at the time, but it wasn't considered a traditional portrait. Lady Liberty has always been included on US currency and Morgan wanted to present her more than a symbol but also as a concept. The reverse reveals a large eagle with the familiar words, "In God We Trust," written above his head. Your 1885 Morgan silver dollar was minted in Philadelphia but does not carry a mint mark. It contains 90% silver, 10% copper, and weighs approximately 26.73 grams. Its diameter is 38.1 millimeters and is considered to be in almost uncirculated condition. With AU coins, bag marks and surface abrasions are to be expected but the typical condition of the coin should contain only small amounts of wear.
