When the Eisenhower Dollar was produced, the San Francisco Mint got their metaphorical hands on the production. Already established for its long-withstanding reputation, the San Francisco Mint is admired for its excellent quality control, while minting sharply struck coins. Being a favorite among loyal collectors, any coin marked with the "S" mint-mark doesn't need to be over advertised, its quality speaks for itself. Although it isn't ideal for investing, the Eisenhower series is usually enjoyed by novice collectors and a great collection to start for beginners. All of the Eisenhower dollars are made from a copper-nickel alloy, except some of the Ikes from San Francisco. The term "clad" is used when referring to non-silver coins and is used for this proof dollar. The 1973-S Clad Proof Eisenhower Dollar Roll was minted at the highly revered west-coast based mint and contains 20 coins in a tube.
