Adult pandas do not climb trees but panda cubs are known to since it protects them while their adult parents are eating and cannot look out for the cubs. The panda's colors are determined by two different kinds of finishes: a matte finish for the white, and a pure silver finish for the black. The cub is also accompanied by the coin's purity, weight, and legal tender value. The obverse displays the coin's date of mintage and a compilation of Chinese symbols that translate to, "The People's Republic of China."
