Ever since ancient times, pandas have been universally loved and revered by local Chinese culture. To the people, they represent a patient being who always finds its good fortune aka bamboo. Pandas are known to wander hours upon hours a day, looking for its next meal. Yet, it never worries if it's going to eat because it has faith that it will eat at the right time. Chinese tradition has used this mindset for many years, admiring the panda's patience and perseverance. It is anything but surprising that the panda was chosen to grace the reverse design of one of China's most popular bullion coin collections. 2008 was one of the first years this magnificent series increased its mintage of coins to 150,000 instead of 50,000 or less. Obviously, compared to other bullion collections, 150,000 coins still seems pretty low when sitting next to a coin that has an unlimited mintage.
The 2008 1/20th oz Chinese Panda coin is .999 pure gold and is finished in brilliant uncirculated condition with elegant proof-like features. Since our inventory is constantly changing, please give us a call to see if your coin is packaged in its original plastic pouch or in our provided coin flip. The reverse design of this gold coin showcases a mother panda walking with her panda cub. For authentication purposes, the reverse is stamped with the coin's denomination, weight, and purity. The obverse presents a lovely illustration of the Temple of Heaven, a compilation of religious buildings that have been standing in Beijing since 1409. "The People's Republic of China," is represented in Chinese symbols above the temple and the coin's date of mintage is provided below it. If you are looking for a truly unique coin collection to add to your repertoire, then the Chinese Gold Panda series is right for you!
