A common date for the San Francisco Mint, there were a little over 21 million Washington Quarters produced in 1943. The Certified Washington Quarter 1943-S MS65 ANACS is in BU condition and is encased in an official ANACS holder . The design on the quarter was inspired by the man, the myth, the legend: George Washington. Washington began his career by inheriting a tobacco farm in Virginia. Instead of riding out his family's fortune, he enlisted. He was quickly recognized as an outstanding leader and was promoted to Senior Officer in the Colonial Militia during the French and Indian War. His early successes only set him up for further greatness when he was the Commander in Chief for the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. In 1789, Washington was elected the first president of the United States and held the office for 8 years. Washington made history and earned the respect worldwide when he decided to step down, instead of keep running for president. Compared to other world leaders, who usually reign until they die, Washington desired to see the country thrive with new leadership every 4-8 years and not a minute longer.
The San Francisco Mint also holds a large amount of history, since it still produces coins currently. When the California Gold Rushes were happening, the US needed a mint on the West-Coast to help turn the gold into coins. The San Francisco Mint was the solution and outgrew its first building in just the first year of production. Among all of the mints that have come and gone, the San Francisco Mint has always upheld its reputation of high quality control and strong strikes.
