-Obverse: The design, of the silver eagle, was inspired by the Walking Liberty half-dollar that was common currency from 1917-1947. This design received so much acclaim, the US Mint decided to revive it for their first silver bullion collection. Adolph A. Weinman is the German/American sculptor responsible for the beautiful Walking Liberty design. On the obverse of the silver eagle, Lady Liberty is gently clothed in a robe with the American flag cloaked around her broad shoulders. The lady walks without any care, extending her right arm to offer an open invitation. The obverse is stamped with the words, "Liberty," "In God We Trust," and the date of mintage.
-Reverse: The reverse reveals a patriotic symbol, an eagle clothed in a shield with its talons clenching onto olive branches and arrows. The olive branches represent peace as the 13 arrows symbolize the original 13 colonies. The coin's purity and weight are also marked on the coin for extra assurance.
