The Proof American Silver Eagle collection represents more than just one ounce of the finest and purest silver, it reminds us where we started as a nation. The design on both the BU and Proof Silver Eagles is a passed down design, originating in 1908. Adolph A. Weinman is the German American sculptor responsible for the historical Walking Liberty design that was featured on every half dollar between 1916-1947. Weinman's works of art are a significant part of US history and are scattered throughout the country today. Another familiar work of the sculptor's is the Mercury dime, which was the dime in circulation from 1916-1945. Weinman's Lady Liberty was something unique of its time, portraying the lady as fierce rather than a delicate maid. His brilliant design has been the inspiration for US coins ever since.

-Obverse: The Lady Liberty graces the obverse of your coin, robed in a loose-fitting toga that is reminiscent of ancient Grecian times. One arm is extended and inviting, while the other is bearing the weight of a loose bundle of branches. "Liberty" is etched in a large font above the Lady's head with the date of mintage below her sandaled feet.
-Reverse: The reverse illustrates the US Coat of Arms, which contains a large eagle protected by a shield. There are 13 stars above the eagle's head to represent the original 13 colonies.
