  • Description:

Coined as the unofficial last year of production, for the Peace silver dollar, the 1928 silver dollar is highly popular in Mint State examples. Due to the Pittman Act of 1918, the US Mint was required to mint millions of silver dollars, only using domestic silver. As the US Mint cranked out millions upon millions of dollars, as the deadline approached, the Philadelphia Mint was able to drastically decrease production each year. In 1928, only 360,649 dollars were minted in Philadelphia, claiming first place of the lowest minted Peace dollars. Your Certified 1928 Peace silver dollar is the first US coin to symbolize peace and has been graded by one of the top agencies in the US. PCGS has assigned your coin the grade of MS62, which falls on the lower end of the BU grade spectrum.
