The Certified Morgan Silver Dollar 1904 MS62 NGC has earned a BU grade and comes encased in an official NGC holder. This year is one of the most significant years in the Morgan silver dollar's life. 1904 is the last official year of the Morgan serving as the US silver dollar. It would be resurrected 17 years later, just to be replaced by the Peace dollar. Philadelphia was once the nation's capital, making it appropriate to establish the first mint there. The Founding Fathers desired for the US to have its own national identity and a means to commerce internationally. The Mint Act was passed shortly after the establishment of the Philadelphia Mint, to issue guidelines for the newly minted currency. The Mint Act stated that there should be a decimal system based on a dollar denomination. It also demanded that every US coin should feature "an impression emblematic of liberty," making sense of why Lady Liberty is used so much on our currency.
