The Certified Morgan Silver Dollar 1894-O AU58 NGC has earned a grade on the high end of the Sheldon AU Grading Scale and comes encased in an official NGC holder. The 1894-O Morgan was minted during a crisis, wherein it was illegal to buy new silver to make the Morgans, due to the overwhelming stash of coins just sitting in the Treasury. This shortage caused lower minted Morgans from 1893-1895. Being a lower mintage coin, the 1894-O has a mintage of only 1,723,000 coins! This is still considered a lower mintage for the New Orleans Mint, since they produced millions of coins in other years. The 1894-O was also poorly made, making the act of finding one in mint state a real challenge.
