The Morgan silver dollar was born in 1878, when assistant engraver of the US Mint designed the coin. This assistant engraver would become Chief engraver 40 years later, George T. Morgan. Morgan grew up learning the ins and outs of engraving coins in England then he moved his talents to the US, where the Mint picked him up. He was also responsible for other coin's designs, such as the Columbian Exposition half dollar. But the Morgan was his namesake and what he became famous for. Your Certified 1880-S Morgan silver dollar comes in the highly coveted grade of MS66. Morgans in MS66 grade are a rare breed, since many were stored improperly and causing their condition to decrease. NGC issued your coin's grade and consistently amazes collectors by their impeccable grading techniques. With a rare grade of MS66, this Morgan will not stay in our inventory for long!
