The double eagle was minted from 1854-1934, containing one switch in design during that time. The $10 eagle was the highest denomination used during the famous gold rushes, causing larger transactions to be more of a pain than an honor. After twenty years of being begged for a higher denomination coin, Congress caved and approved the minting of the $20 Liberty. The double eagle got its nickname because it literally is worth double than the $10 eagle. The $20 Liberty coin's popularity took off and stayed the design of the double eagle for over 60 years. The $20 Saint-Gaudens was the new design that took over, in 1908, featuring a more fierce and warrior-like Lady Liberty. The Certified $20 St Gaudens comes in the grade of MS62, issued by the top grading companies, PCGS or NGC.
